Here are the units that Mount and Blade 2 Bannerlord players should be looking at.
Because of how the recruitment method in Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord is set up, most players will have to start from scratch. Even though players could possibly recruit high-level troops from their pool of prisoners, it’s much more personal to have an elite army that all worked hard to get to the top together. Also, starting with higher-level troops can make it harder to get things done.
This is why it’s important to look more closely at which of these low-level groups are worth recruiting. Players will choose their troops based on their potential, so the key to having a top group in Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord is to know which ones have the best potential.
Khuzait Nomad
The Khuzait Nomad is a great recruit because it can change into something that changes Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord game right away, like the Khuzait Tribal Warrior, a horse shooter. If not, they can always take the road for infantry and get something heavy.
Even so, there are enough different ways to become a combat soldier, and you can also switch to archery. Soon, players will have a well-balanced army made up of a lot of shooters. For some, a Khuzait Nomad recruitment pool might be more than enough if they win enough fights to improve their troops.
Sturgian Recruit
Sturgia is known for its intimidating and highly armored infantry units that can take arrows and form shield walls that can’t be broken. Even though they have to start small, the Sturgian Recruit already looks like it will be a good ship.
They have the same stats as any other tier one recruit, but they can choose from a wider range of guns. Some of them carry scythes, which are great for fighting horses, while axes are great for both sieges and fighting close up. The upgrade path isn’t great for horses, but they get shields early on, which helps keep losses low.
Vlandian Recruit
The first Vlandian troops are about as ragged as they get. They look more like farmers getting ready for a harvest than like soldiers. But that’s to be expected, since Vlandia mostly focuses on its strong horse troops. The Vlandian Squires are a good choice if a player wants the best starting troops.
As melee troops, there aren’t many ways to improve them. But they get shields and good blades right away. The Vlandian Recruits are also a good starting choice, but players will lose horses if they choose them.
Imperial Recruit
If a player wants a well-rounded army, the Imperial Recruits might be a good place to start. The group is best at making units that can do a lot of different things, but to improve them, you need more experience and training. In any case, they get shields and shooters before anyone else.
This makes force groups more diverse and useful. Like Vlandian Recruits, though, they don’t have any ways to level up their cavalry, so players will have to buy a different tier-2 unit from the Empire called the Imperial Vigla Recruit or go to Vlandian towns to get early horsemen.
Aserai Recruit
When it comes to flexible groups, the Aserai are also known for having different kinds of troops. They have more choices for mounted units. And their basic Aserai Recruit units can easily switch to mounted units if they need to. Shields are also used by these mounting units.
Starting at tier two, these Aserai units can also be upgraded into some of the best shooters in the game. But even at their starting tier, they aren’t easy to beat. Their spears make sure they can defend against strikes from low-tier cavalry.
Battanian Highborn Youth
Battanians are feared for their guerilla-style fighting, so their units are better at hit-and-run and long-range fights. Due to their great Bow skill, Battanian Highborn Youth are also some of the best archers in Backrooms game.
Depending on who they are facing, they can easily kill hundreds of infantry troops, even those with shields. Players need to be aware that Vlandian crossbowmen can shoot farther than them. Which is one weakness they need to be aware of.
Sea Raider Warrior
In Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord, hiring bandit or rogue units is usually expensive and should be done as little as possible. But Sea Raider Warrior units can be an exception. Because they are great all-arounders that will almost always win fair fights with tier three units.
They are very good at one-handed combat, but they can also quickly switch to ranged combat and can even defend themselves against heavy cavalry attacks thanks to their weapons and high Polearm skill. Players might not want to be too careless with these special weapons because they are hard to replace.
Steppe Bandit
These sneaky devils are another Bandit unit that players might want to keep an eye out for after a fight or on the field. When they are at tier two, Steppe Bandits might seem too simple, but if they fight enough. They can become either Marauders or Khuzait Raiders.
Either choice is great, since both can lead to Khuzait horse shooters. Who are not only strong but can also change the game if you move them around enough. Keep them alive long enough after adding them to your army. And they will become the most dangerous horse shooters in the game.
Bedouin Rover
If a player comes across a Desert Bandit Camp, they should look for Bedouin Rovers. They are a good tier two unit that can defend against both cavalry and infantry charges. And they can also be turned into heavy Aserai cavalry.
Players can improve them into fully armored Aserai heavy cavalry or Aserai archers. Which are also good long-range units, especially in sieges. Even in their first shape, they can help in battles because they can change their weapons.
Bushwacker
The Bushwaker might have a bad image as small-time Battanian brigands, but if players give them the time and effort, they can easily become some of the best archers in the game, like the Battanian Fian Champion.
So, they’re a cheap way to get some of the best elite units in the game. Ones that can wipe out infantry easier and safer than a horse charge. These are tier 2 units, and even though they have been nerfed. They can easily win a fight with melee troops.
