How to Save Money on Gas & Electricity?
Review your bills:
Whether you use a heater or a grey horizontal radiator, it is important to know that cheap energy deals have disappeared over the last few months, it is not a good time to switch energy providers. You’ll be paying out-of-contract rates (also known as a variable or default tariff) if you hadn’t switched suppliers or tariffs recently or were moved to a new provider when yours closed.

You can save money if you use a portable electric heater and lower the temperature of the thermostat if you are only heating one room in your house. It could be advantageous for people who live alone or work from home to invest in an electric heater since they will be able to save money on their heating bills over the long term since they will not be heating the entire house unnecessarily. Although it is a good idea to use electric heaters sparingly, they are not always the best option.

Using a smart thermostat, you can control your heating remotely via the internet via your mobile phone, tablet, or computer. Depending on the weather forecast, some can also learn your routine or adjust your settings. Combined with smart thermostatic radiator valves, you can control which rooms are heated and which aren’t. Even if your thermostatic radiator valves aren’t smart, you can still do this by turning them off manually in each room. A smart thermostat may or may not save you money depending on your lifestyle, how well you control your heating already, and whether you prefer it to traditional controls.

Although you might only use your heating in the winter, you use energy to heat your water all year long. Because of this, using your heating wisely will be a major factor in how much you pay. Furthermore, to save money on your electricity bill, these tips can also help you with your water bill. In case you have a hot water tank (rather than a combi boiler), you can use the controls on your thermostat to turn your water heating on and off, helping you to only heat what you need.
